Kettle Lake Bog Garden

In spring, the surface wakes slowly—tight green growth hugging the moss, everything low and close to the water. By early summer, small, pale pink blossoms appear, almost hidden, giving way to the first signs of cranberries forming beneath the foliage, deepening in color through late summer as the heat holds. In fall, reds come forward, bright against the muted bog, the fruit finally visible if you know where to look, before winter draws everything back again, the surface going quiet, holding just enough life underneath to start it all over.
