I knew today was going to be different.
The corner garden at Parkview and Maryland literally stopped me in my tracks. I jumped out of my vehicle and started taking pictures.
There’s something about the light in late August and September. You get that warm morning glow without having to be out at 5:30 in the morning to catch it. The sun sits lower, the light comes in softer, warmer, almost sideways.
A patch of flowers glowing one minute can be in shadow the next, while another corner of the garden suddenly comes alive. The garden hasn’t changed. The sun has.
And that changing light makes you notice how the place works. A flower that looked ordinary yesterday can catch the light from a different angle and suddenly become the thing you notice first.
Once you start seeing that, you start looking for the change. You know the sun will move, the shadows will shift, and the garden will reveal itself differently again.
